Paint The Glen results

The paintout was a great success! The weather was sunny & warm. If those folks in Hawaii knew how nice spring Texas weather can be, they would be packing up their ukes & movin' to Texas! Shhh, let's not tell them.

Back to the Paintout - Sixteen artists participated in this event, 26 paintings turned in for judging. Awards were First Place - DeBob Jacob Maypearl TX, Second Place - Chase Almond Kennedale TX, Third Place - Steve Miller Grand Prairie TX. Honorable Mentions to Linda Miller Paluxy TX, Vickie Guthrie - Glen Rose TX & Mary Rabien - Waxahachie TX.

Plans are already in the works for the Paint The Glen 2012. Tweaking the details to make it bigger & better. Thanks to all of the participants & volunteers that made it happen.

During the past two years I've been asked if I teach art lessons. My response was "No" because I was concentrating on painting for two solo shows. Opportunity knocked again - my show preparation was completed and I thought, "Why not?" So I took the plunge and I now teach weekly lessons in Granbury Texas. I'm truly enjoying teaching and passing along the knowledge from an outstanding still life artist Kaye Franklin. I continue to take lessons from Kaye on a monthly basis.

Forgotten Treasures 12 x 16 oil

The vase, basket and candlestick holder were purchased at the local thrift store which is supported by the First United Methodist Church in Glen Rose Texas. I added sunflowers, a few pops of red flowers, apple & squash.
